Having my daughter changed my life. I know that sounds cliché, but it´s true. And not in the way you´re thinking.

After my daughter was born naturally, and taking way longer than expected, I  thought, okay thats it, hard part over, now I can get home and start learning about this new little being. But what I didn´t expect was that the hard part was just starting.

You see, my daughter was a great eater and an adorable happy baby most of the time. She just wasn´t a sleeper. Actually she was a non-sleeper. From almost day one. She was just too curious and excited about the world. So I just went along with her. Isn´t that what everyone tells you? I didn´t know that she needed 16 hours of sleep a day. I figured she would sleep when she was tired. What I didn´t know was that she didn´t know how to sleep. That´s right! You have to teach babies how to sleep. I never knew that.

So, fast forward six months and we were a very tired and frustrated family. We should have been happy and well rested and enjoying every minute. But we weren´t. I was on the brink of losing my mind. I needed to sleep. We all needed to sleep. So I got help from a professional. I knew the problem was bigger than me and that we needed to fix something soon. I just didn´t know how.

Once we got help and implemented some changes, things improved dramatically. I mean, by night three my daughter was sleeping 12 hours straight through the night. She was still being breastfed. Something I thought was impossible. But really, once I understood what I had been doing wrong, it was all quite easy to resolve. She learnt to sleep and we all got to rest.

So from there I decided that have having such a life changing experience I needed to share it with others. I hopped on a plane to The States and started sleep consultant training. I couldn´t wait to start a new career as a professional sleep consultant and help other families who were suffering the same as I was.

I started working as a sleep consultant straight away and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I am able to help other mothers with the same doubts and worries as I had and give them the answers and rest they need. What could be better?
